The Twin Cities Media Alliance began in the winter of 2005 with an ad hoc group of individuals interested in bringing together media professionals and engaged citizens to improve the quality, accountability and diversity of the local media, and giving the public the tools they need to become more active participants in the emerging media environment.
We will accomplish our mission through:

  • Offering citizen journalism classes and media skills workshops
  • Creating a community newswire and syndication service
  • Building a partnership with neighborhood and community media serving diverse Twin Cities communities
  • Hosting public and on-line forums
  • Organizing networking opportunities for media professionals and engaged citizens

Funding for the Twin Cities Media Alliance is provided by The Minneapolis Foundation, McKnight Foundation, Saint Paul Foundation, McCormick Tribune Foundation, Headwaters Foundation for Justice, Otto Bremer Foundation, Still Ain’t Satisfied Foundation, J-Lab – the Institute for Interactive Journalism at the University of Maryland, Triangle Park Creative, and by generous individuals who contribute to the organization.
